Measuring misery

Posted by Greg on February 11, 2009

Forbes has an article upon which the 150 largest metro areas are measured to detemine which cities are the most miserable in America.

The “top” ten list is interesting.

  1. Stockton, CA
  2. Memphis, TN
  3. Chicago, IL
  4. Cleveland, OH
  5. Modesto, CA
  6. Flint, MI
  7. Detroit, MI
  8. Buffalo, NY
  9. Miami, FL
  10. St. Louis, MO

Curious.  Granted there are a lot of places there I’d not want to live, but there are others that IMO aren’t particularly bad at all.  Chicago?  Buffalo?  Memphis?  You could do a lot worse.

Some cities, like Flint and the California entries have been particularly hard hit by economic times, but a lot of the choices seem more aesthetic than anything…
