How’s the economy treating you?

Since yesterday was Labor Day, I suppose it’s appropriate to take a moment to consider the increased productivity yet shrinking compensation of the American worker.
It’s good that the economy itself is growing, but when wages have remained stagnant for decades it’s fair to ask where the money is going.
Consider the following graphic from The Detroit Free Press:

Only five (of 51) show positive growth, and of those the highest is 4.4%, as compared to overall shrinkage with a maximum of 12% over six years. And with a 10.5% loss, why is Utah so willing to give Bush a pass?

Why even bring up the “dismal” economy? Don’t you have the election in the bag already? From what I’m reading its not a question if the Democrats win the House, but by how much.
Until I saw your chart, I had no idea I was faring so poorly
Its sad really…you used to be so sensible on economic matters.

I’m always sensible on economic matters. Indeed, too sensible to cherry pick a handful of economic indicators as campaign points which don’t paint a comprehensive picture of what’s really going on in the world.
“But democrats do it too,” you’ll whine. Yes they do. All the more reason why smart people regardless of political leanings will take the time to run the math themselves.
